About the Recipe

Ingredients
1 choc orange block
1 tablespoon (30ml to 50ml) of a natural oil of choice (try jojoba or olive)
100ml to 150ml water (use less for a thicker butter consistency)
Preparation
Step 1
Set up a double boiler. This is easy to do. you need 2x pyrex heat proof cups (250 to 350ml). Place a deep frypan on the hotplate with 1 inch of water. Allow the water to be steamy hot (BUT NOT BOILING) do not let it boil. Sit both pyrex cups in the same bath of water, and let them sit for 30 minutes. This ensures all your oils AND all the water is at the same temperature - and this will be important when making a stable nice cream or lotion. (if making a balm, you are not using water so you only need 1 cup, and any double boiler method will work for that, as it is just like melting/tempering cooking chocolate).
Step 2
Once 30minutes is passed and your oil and block are totally melted and clear it is time to remove both water cup and oil cup off the heat.
Step 3
Add your water to the oil, and do this in small doses, mixing by hand between each dose. Allow a couple minutes between each time you add more. Using a clean stick blender or a small hand held milk frother, pulse your mixture (it should be creamy white at this stage) and keep pulsing 10 or 20 times, without whipping it.
Step 4
Now, give it some love - just keep stirring by HAND, until it is cooled down.
Step 5
Pour into clean packaging, and store at room temperature. Use within a month and discard any leftovers past this time.
