CUCUMBER SOOTHING SERUM

Step 1

Melt SERUM Block, in double boiler or bain marie until melted into a honey consistency, do not over heat it (do not use a microwave)

Step 2 (the HYDROSOL MADE FRESH)

PLACE: 2 to 3 freshly cut cucumber in a pot (1 cm slices) and cover it over with 1 inch of water.

PLACE: a metal strainer (no plastic) ontop (use a fan-style metal vegetable steamer)

PLACE: a heat proof glass bowl over the strainer

PLACE: the lid on the pot upside down. and start to boil the water inside the pot.

PLACE: large chunks of icecubes on the lid, to accellerate condensation, the condensation will drop into the clean bowl inside the pot, and this is your cucumber fresh distillate. Keep this liquid clean from contamination.

Once the water is evaporated, or you have captured at least half a cup of water in the bowl, turn off the heat and allow it all to cool befoer removing the cucumber water bowl. Alternatively use a hydrosol like Rose Water or Witchhazel Extract, or for a quick alternative try chamomile Tea or Green Tea.

Step 3

Add the fresh cucumber distillate to a double boiler - and when both your Oils and your Water are both at the same temperature of 70 to 80 Degrees, you can combine the two together. Remember to pulse the mixture now. Then stir by hand until it is cooled down.

If your cream splits - your temperatures were not correct and you have rushed the process.

To save your mixture - allow it to cool overnight (cling wrap the top and keep it sterile) the next day, start by warming it up again, and once it is at 90 degrees, ( a little warmer than usually recommended, pull it off the heat and pulse it with a stick blender or handheld milk frother - do this 10 to 20 times. once your mixture looks smooth and runny - had stir until cool, jar and enjoy.

Step 4

Pour into clean packaging, and store at room temperature. Use within a month and discard any leftovers past this time.

A gentle alkaline facial serum with soothing cucumber is worth the effort.
